Regular dating apps filled with landlubbers just don’t work for us. Between the crazy hours, last-minute charters, and never knowing what port you’ll wake up in, meeting people who actually get it can feel impossible.

We’ve battled Med seasons, survived the countless Caribbean beach BBQs on charter, done crossings longer than our leave days, and changed cabins more times than we’ve worn our personal clothes during the season. We know the engine room sweats, the galley politics, and the “don’t date the crew” rule that we’ve ignored anyway.

We found ourselves wishing there was a dating app curated just for us, instead of endlessly swiping through people with a hefty language barrier, or those who can’t wrap their heads around dating someone in this unconventional industry.

So, we said “$&#€ it, let’s just build it ourselves”.

1. What is Anchorr?

Anchorr is the first-ever dating app made by crew, for crew. It’s built for the yachting world so you can meet people who actually get it — long contracts, constantly on the move, and trying to date with one foot on the dock and one at sea.

2. Who can join?

If you’re part of the yachting industry, Anchorr’s for you. Captains, deckhands, stews, engineers, chefs, whatever your role. If you’re passionate about life at sea, you’ll fit right in.

3. How is it different from other dating apps?

Industry-specific: No need to explain yacht life — everyone here already gets it.
Location-based & port check-ins: Match with people in your marina, at anchor, or even where you’re headed next.
Flexible connections: Romance, friendship, or just crew networking. You decide!
Made-for-yachties features: Filter by department, set current and future locations, control who can see you, re-add someone you swiped away, and add lifestyle details so others get to know the real you.
Not your usual prompts: We’ve created yachtie-inspired Convo Starters, so you’re never stuck opening with “Hey”.

4. Do I have to be single to join?

Nope. A lot of people use Anchorr for dating, but it’s also for friendships, travel buddies, or just connecting with others in the industry.

5. Is it available worldwide?

Yes! Whether you’re docked in Monaco, crossing the Atlantic, or on charter in the Caribbean, Anchorr works anywhere the yachting life takes you.

6. Can I hide my profile from colleagues or current crew?

Yes. You’re in control. You can block specific people from seeing you on the app, so things stay private and drama-free.

7. How does the matching system work?

Matches are based on the preferences you set:

Gender: men, women, or both
Location: current or future ports
Department: interior, deck, engineering, or chef
Connection goals: casual, long-term, friendship, or still figuring it out

8. Is the app safe?

Definitely. Every profile goes through a verification process to keep things real. You can also block or report anyone at any time.

9. Does it cost anything?

Anchorr is free to download and use with all features unlocked for the first 2,000 crew who sign up. After that, we’ll roll out a small subscription plan to keep Anchorr going strong with more epic features for the community.

10. How do I get started?

Download Anchorr on iOS or Android.
Complete the sign-up steps and create your profile.
Upload your STCW certificates for verification. You’ve got 48 hours. Skip it and you’ll have to start again.
Set your Dating Preferences.
Start connecting with fellow yachties!

11. What if I move ports often?

That’s the best part. Your location updates as you travel, so you’ll always see who’s nearby wherever your yacht drops anchor.

12. Is there a vetting process? Do I have to be verified to use Anchorr?

Yes. Anchorr is exclusive to yachties. You’ll need to upload your STCW certificates within 48 hours of joining. That way, you know everyone you’re seeing is legit and in the industry.

13. What are the steps to being verified, and what does each icon mean?

🏴‍☠️ Pirate Icon: You haven’t uploaded your STCW yet. You’ve got 48 hours to do it before you’re kicked off and have to start over.
⏳ Orange Hourglass: You’ve uploaded your documents, and Anchorr is manually reviewing them. This can take up to 48 hours.
✅ Blue Tick: You’re fully verified! Your certificates checked out, and you’re now officially part of a 100% verified yachtie community.

14. If I delete the app and re-download it, do I have to go through verification again?

No, you’ll never have to do it again, even if you delete the app and come back later. We will have your information stored with the email address and contact number you used when you first signed up.

15. How do I know my certificates and data are safe?

Your data is protected. When you join Anchorr, you’ll agree to our T&Cs and Privacy Policy, which explain exactly how your information is handled.

16. What are the community rules?

We keep it simple:

No boat details on your profile. Respect vessel privacy and the industry we all love.
No nudity or inappropriate content. Profiles breaking this rule will be removed.
No catfishing, harassment, or fake profiles. Ever.
Be kind, be lekker. This is your community. Let’s keep it fun and safe.

17. Can I invite other crew to join?

Yes please! The more yachties onboard, the better Anchorr works. Share the app via the App Store, our website, WhatsApp, Instagram, Facebook, or good old word-of-mouth.
